Yes, I know

I missed the weekly challenge again. My brain is occupied with existential questions and answers and gigantic projects so... that's just the way it is right now.

I will perhaps get back later on with how it will be.

Weekly challenge #10 - Guilty?

Opps. I did it. Missed to publish a new weekly challenge. I knew it would happen. And... to be honest... did anyone miss it?

Perhaps am I supposed to feel guilt now. Perhaps not. I know what I feel... do you know what you feel?

Anyway... I give you some really nice posters to be inspired by. All posters are from and are copyrighted by
SDPosters.

Some claim you to have committed a
Sin
and want you to be in
Doubt
so you will
Confess
your nonexisting
Guilt

Weekly challenge #9 - Stamp all over

I am confused. I forgot that it was thursday today and time for a new weekly challenge. But... it's still thursday... so if I think fast... I will manage on time. ;)

I have been thinking about how I scrap. I do that often. What comes back to me are those two layouts I made that day during last summer when I decided to go my own way. To break every rule and just do my thing. One of these two layouts contains a lot of printed out pictures and texts which I happened to have on my hard drive or made for just that page. The other layout contains a lot of stamped things. I often forget to use both options.

Recently I did however dust off some stamps and stamped an layout with 8 different stamps. I realised that stamping is quite a fast way to build up a page which, at least on some scale, are personal. It depends on which stamps you use and how you combine them. I used black ink on my page, but you can vary by using any color. You can combine stamps to add your touch to a page. Color them in, use them as they are and/or emboss. Stamp the whole title or combine with handwriting, text from patterned papers, diecut letters/words or letter/word stickers. The possibilities are once again endless.

My challenge to you is to use stamps. Lots of them on a page. It could be any kind of stamps as long as there are at least 8 different stamps. It's ok to use the same stamp more than once, but it still counts as one stamp. Separate letters don't count at all. Word stamps are ok to count. You can of course stamp a really long title built up of word stamps, but I am trying to get you to find those nice stamps that goes with a page. Use the image stamps, the swirls and so on.

Weekly challenge #8 - Pure amusement

Jolee's by you Carousel

It is one of two larger markets going on this weekend in the vicinities of where we live. And... there is also a third market the same weekend. That is, two markets this weekend and a third in two weeks time. Did your follow? :) Anyway... markets usually offer some kind of tivoli attractions. Tivoli is just what you are to scrap about. What do you come to think of when you hear about tivoli? What goes around comes around (that's, for instance, the pariser wheel)? That sick feeling that may come from too much spinned sugar (Svenska: sockervadd)? Those chills you feel when you enter the spooky or haunted house? Free fall simulators which brings your stomach to your head? The mechanics behind it all, the mechanics that makes the carousels go? The world's stongest man? That ugly bearded lady? All the colors and sparkling lamps who lights up the sky? Or, perhaps pure amusement 'til up drop Think free and create a tivoli.

When you are finsihed, please comment to this posting with a working link to whatever you create.

Weekly challenge #7 - Flower Power

For this week, I would like to see how you can use flowers. Perhaps some home made paper posies. For what they are and how to make 'em, click here or just scroll down. :) But...

it's not flowers as you use to use them. You have to do
something different. Something surprising. Something awesome.

Copywriter: Thomas Danthine

Put in other words. I want you to rock'n'roll those Primas or whatever they're named. Show off their potential. Or... try to convince me that you can't make a scrap page, a card or something altered without flowers. ;)

Post a working link to whatever you come up with. And... who knows what will happen... ;)

Weekly Challenge #5 bONE YEAR - Contributions and winners

About bONE hour ago the deadline for last weeks challenge, that is the challenge to celebrate my bONE YEAR of blogging, passed. Two contributions. Two! Look at them and enjoy how they interpreted this picture

Picture from Valerie Confections

Scräpemma is very found of chocolate. Mmmm Marabou must be as Swedish chocolate as you an find. It used to come in two variants, but over the years they have extended their product line to include also more modern tastes. Daim (actually it used to be spelled another way... :) ) is perhaps familiar even to those who don't reside in Sweden and Mmmm Marabous Daim is just like Daim but with more chocolate. Scräpemma is also found of these double messages that you always can build in. Skull is a Swedish word with a quite different meaning - a meaning which I cannot really translate since there is no direct translation. The Swedish skull is used for the heading and the English skull is there in form of the grungeboard skull. Nice! I also really like the colors. The dark purple together with the yellow, red and lime. That's a fresh combination. The speech bubble is a nice detail. So is the eyelets on the ribbon. And the eyelets on the package. And the arrow. And the overlay. And the painted black. Well. Everything is nice. :)

Favourite - For pleasure by Scräpemma

Bitte/Marie writes that this is her go with freestylin. She also writes that she doesn't think it not that much freestyle. But it is. Indeed it is. She was just scrapping without thinking that much what to add. Just adding. That's free(style). What did she add then? Mesh is a really nice material which I like. Bam Pop is there. Tickets. Buttons. Elsies doodling. A heart with pearls on thread. A lot of fasteners. The skull with eyes. The HS sticker. The pom pom. The frame. The nice look of the title. All the fasteners. Well. That's nice. But what is most nice with this LO is the whole it builds up and the fact that I actually would like to have the same clothes as that little girl... ;)

Sweet as candy by bitte/Marie

I wrote that there would be two or more letters. Two contributions sums up to two letters. Since I am a bit confused/stressed out or whatever we call it, please send me your addresses on alexela999@hotmail.com so I can save those e-mails as reminders that I should ask him to help me out with this one... too :) Thanks for participating and giving us such creative interpretations.

Weekly challenge #6 - What's your all time favourites?

Thursday means a new weekly challenge. Since I'm not that sharp today, I take an "easy" challenge. You are to lift this LO made by me. :)

As usual, post a working link to what you create. No deadline for this challenge. :) But... there may be something there anyway. So... give it a try. ;)

Last reminder

For the challenge which is due tonight - at midnight. The challenge for celebrating my bONE YEAR blogging. Scrap on folks! :)

Weekly challenge #5 - bONE YEAR

Actually it was yesterday and one year back. The first posting in this blog is dated to the 9th of July 2007. So... I wish

Happy Birthday

to my blog with some rockin' candy...

Picture from Valerie Confections

Some people arrange some kind of happening around this thing to celebrate. Since it is thursday and time for the next weekly challenge I decided that you can be inspired and create something from the picture above. As usual should it be freestylin' in some way. :) When you are finished, leave a comment with a working link to what you create. If you do this in one weeks time, that is to say latest by 17th of July 23.59 (Swedish time zone) you are participating for two or more letters of skull rockin' items from me and him... ;)

Midsummer challenge - the winner

Well. As I said in the earlier posting. I am very found of all three contributions for the midsummer challenge. I have been juggling with the thought to give the honour and the priize to all three participants. But I realized that I would regard myself as a coward if I couldn't decide on one winner. And no one wants to be remembered as a coward. :P So... the honour is for all three participants. Regarding the prize... here we go...

Yellow! A color which is not that common in scrapping in general, but is getting somewhat more accepted. The last LO I made before I took my long break had a lot of yellow in it. And... among the first LOs I made after my long break was in yellow and black and some white.

What does then yellow say to a person. One totally non scientific answer is that yellow represent something crazy and ill. Another equally non scientific answer is that yellow represent something bright, warm, cheerful and full of hope. I go for a combination. Yellow is for me a playful color that brightens up and makes me happy. Sometimes I wonder why I don't confess that I am a sucker for yellow. :P

That I am a sucker for crazy things that bends my (and hopefully also others) mind should be no news. ;) Freestylin' is the shit.

Therefore. Just look at this inspirational picture. The somewhat nostalgic touch of psychedelics. The eager cheer leader running towards the sceptic guy and the couple standing there in the back holding each other, watching the surrounding chaos. :) Also note that the poster concerns something that involves a classic. A play (just look at that in itself!) written by the man who coined "To be or not to be... that's the question..."

Then look at this page made by Anki. Look at the striking similarities in color combination. Look at the amazingly freestylin' decorations made out of a plastic bag and a cardboard from a six pack of beers winded through a scrapping machine. Look at all those staples. Look at that somewhat psychedelic pattern on the plastic bag. Look at the, in general, brave color combinations. And finally... just look, read and contemplate on the text that is adhered to this page.

"Do not follow where the path may lead,
Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail
.
"

"Curiosity
Individuality
Desire
"

Therefore. Just therefore, I decide on Anki as the winner for the midsummer challenge. Congratulations for daring to be you! :) Please continue to be just that. And please, give me your address by e-mailing me so I can send you some freestylin' and hopefully also mind bending items to scrap more amazing LOs of and with.

Midsummer challenge - contributions

I received three contributions to the midsummer challenge.

Two was inspired by this picture.

Samara was inspired by the genuine "raggar" theme that is present in this picture and found out how she should scrap a picture she didn't really know what to do with before. A really nice combination of colors and - not to say - stamps. The drink is so "non-raggar" as it can be :) , but it works so well with the cerise cruisin' car with the nice wings and also the place where the photo is taken. There are some other nice decorations on this page and I especially like the ring that comes with the CD-stacks and the puzzle pieces. Finally, I will not reveal how I see the snail here since it's not something you say in a public place. :)

Martha was inspired by the color scheme, the shapes and wanted to emphasize the upper part of the page. I am always so amazed by her ability to combine so many colors in such a nice way and this page is no exception. There are really nice well worked decorations on this page. Just look at those yummy grungeboards, the slide mount with a butterfly (those you get in your belly if you are in love), the king of hearts (rubon on paper on grungeboard), the colorful dream rainbow, the rolling eyes on the owl and those really nice... what are they called?... rainbow alike things down right.

The second picture that inspired is this one.

Anki was inspired by the colors and the psychedelic (yes, I call it that too...) touch of this picture. Anki also amazed by really thinking outside the box or besides the path. She took a plastic bag and cut out the nice pattern. She also used the cardboard from a six-pack of beers ;) which she grinded through the Cuttlebug with an embossing folder. And everything on this page is adhered with staples. Crazy? Well... crazy is a good thing in my ears... and for my eyes.

I have to sleep on this one before I can decide winner. All three are very nice. You cannot do anything else but to just like... and watch 'em. And watch again... and again. Thanks a bunch to you three that gave me (and everyone else) an opportunity to contemplate and to be inspired by such nice and mind bending pages.

Weekly challenge #4 - Sleaze, glam, hair and metal

I almost forgot. Thursday today. We are having town festival here and one of the bands that are going to give a gig is Crashdiet. Crashdïet is sleaze, glam and hair together with some metal. And that's just what you are to scrap about/with for this week. Some inspiring photos are

This weeks challenge is the banner for an awesome festival where most people would like to spend their comming weekend. And yes, they are sold out... I can figure why... :)

Weekly challenge #2 - Midsummer inspiration

Summer, sun, fun and summer again. This weekend we are going to celebrate midsummer here in Sweden. That means that there are a lot of family and other gatherings going on around the country and elsewhere. Look at the flyers below for past and present such midsummer themed gatherings and create something. What you create must not necessarily have a midsummer theme or even a summer theme. Be inspired by the colors, the fonts, the pictures, the sketch that can be found if you look closer... Put another way, just create from whatever first pops into your mind.

You can of course create more than one work and be inspired from one, two or more flyers. The only things that is "a rule" for these challenges is that the result should be freestyle in some way. When you are finished with whatever you create, please leave a comment to this posting with a working link to your result including a short (or long) description of how you was inspired and also how you were freestyling. This time there is a deadline for when to post your results for this challenge. If you post in two weeks time, that is to say before the 3rd of July 23.59 (Swedish time zone) you will be able to win something that is freestylin'. And remember... in a week a new challenge will be posted.

PS. If you don't understand how to go about with this challenge or kanske föredrar instruktionerna på svenska - e-mail me on alexela999@hotmail.com

Edit: I prolonged the deadline for this challenge...

Friday the 13th

First, I am happy that I survived thursday the 12th.

Friday the 13th started really good with me getting rid of some garbage from the garden combined with that the scent of cinnamon buns filled our house. I followed up with some play with colors. Yes, I have updated the first weekly challenge with my own interpretation of the poster in question.

Then... I lost track...

Picture from Savage Chickens

Now I am as puzzled as I can be. Which string should I start to pull?

Edit: 15.35 Swedish time zone, this blog had 1000 visitors since I added this function on May the 25th. That means 1000 visitors in less than 3 weeeks. Something that must be regarded - to use a familiar saying - as "not bad peed"... and yes, I do/push some statistics at the moment...

Weekly challenge #1 Iggy

Bored with shitloads of work I decided to start a weekly challenge for you.

Why another challenge when there are so many out there on the huge Internet? Well, this one is a bit different. It has no rules except that you should break out of that ridiculous box in some way. To achive genuine freestyling, your good and bad sides have to be tickled.

Each challenge contains one or many pictures to be inspired from. Some of these may perhaps be regarded as offensive by some viewers, but I quote my partner in crime when I say that "when a person feels something offensive, it's just programmed in that person's mind to react in that way". If something stears up strong feelings it's a good opportunity for catching those feelings and break out of that phoney box...

The first picture is, if you ask me... rather calm. :)

Observe this picture. Contemplate and consider. Think! - but not too much... Grab anything that comes into you mind. Act and start to create. When you are finished, please leave a comment to this posting with a working link to your result. When should this then be done? I said no rules and that means no rules. ;) Therefore... there are no deadline for when to do and post your results for this challenge.

I will of course make my own interpretation of this picture and post it here. Just here. Just below here. ;)

Update on friday the 13th... Here it is, just below as I said.

This page was rockin' fun to make. Do you see how I suck out inspiration from the poster? A bit more colorful than the poster, but that's called creativity. :) Similarities and/or inspiration can be noted in the painting, the apperance of the heading including one of the words, the photo and where it is placed and part of the journaling. Looking at it now, I don't know why I don't play with colors more often since I really love those rough effects you get when you paint not so perfect. One more nice thing is that there are really not so many products manufacutred exclusively for scrapbooking on this page. And yes, I colored over the photo including the frosty leaves.

Now I want to see your interpretations wheter they are blacknwhite or bubbling over with colors. Not to say that it doesn't matter if they are soft charming cute or outrageously morbid. ;) (That last interpretation is exclusively written with direct inspiration from milaja)

All challenges

Here are all the weekly an other challenges with links to each posting. Following the link give you all information about the challenge in question and also links to interpretations of the challenge. The list can of course be used to easily find an challenge to create from and/or post your interpretation. And yes, it's allowed to take on a finished challenge and link in your result.
Let yourself be inspired... :)
