Pain killers

We dare you week 32 is about things that makes us feel good at the same time as you know that you shouldn't... The things we love even though we should not. The things that give us feelings of guilt. It's time to identify those things.

I usually never feel guilt. It's a feeling which I try to avoid. If I want something and have the possibility to have or do it, I do it. That makes me do things I know that I perhaps should not do. But guilt? I don't know who came up with that expression or state of mind... I think that you should face your actions and guilt... well, to feel guilt is not a good way to handle those things you are about to do, have done or haven't done. Better then to reflect and think and, if neccessary and also possible, learn for the future.

Based on my prespective on life in general and especially guilt, I had to rethink this challenge. I came to think of one thing in my life which I don't like. It's the fact that I have those pills to take. Those pills that make my pain go away or at least make the pain soften in intensity. Those pills are really not fun to eat. And if I don't eat them... welll that's not fun. Some say there is a risk for being addicted to those pills. I know that it's more a psychological risk than an physical one. I know that I feel bad, irritated and tired for a couple of days when I stop eating those pills, something I do now and then. Of course, the pain also comes back. I know that it's the prize I have to pay for coping with this fu**ing pain. I know that the more you eat those pills your mind gets used to them resulting in that after some time you do things that you are not supposed to do when you are on these pills. This is something that can make me feel some degree of guilt. That I have a pain which requires me to take these small pills. And... I feel guilt for not being able to just let go and eat those pills on a regular basis to stop that damn pain. It's like pest or cholera. I have only two options to choose from... and neither of them is a good option.

The fact that there are alarming reports now and then in newspapers about those pills don't mind me at all. I have informed myself so I can just ignore those badly bended writings about those pills. Writings that makes so many people, including people I know, fear those pills. In that sense, this page also concerns that you should not feel guilt only because someone says you should do that... The reason for guilt has to come from yourself in order for you to have a chance to understand why you feel like you do. The page with it's title and subtitle also indicate all those things we do to make us feel better. Those things that relief us from our pain in life. Those things that there are no reason to feel guilt about us doing, but that we anyway may feel guilt for...

From the kit are the HS journaling card, the blue punchinella, the letter and number stickers and three aqua colored brads. The stars are really nice stars which I recieved as a RAK from Tezzan. Thanks a lot. I'm found of stars and they are so usable. On this page they represent the stars you may see when you are in pain. Suitable indeed. The blue color is nice. The real blue color that is. It's not so common with really blue scrap items, but these stars have that great color.

Edit made some days later: The weekend which followed after I had completed this layout involved some bright foxy insights. One of them is regarding the physical contra the psycological addiction. I can never claim that the physical addiction will not hit me. I'm in pain, and this means that the physical addiction is already built inside of me. Fuck! That's what I have to say about the thing...

PIFs have arrived

Two PIFs arrived in my mailbox. The first one is from Tezzan and it looks like this
together with some nice owls.

The second is from anneh and looks like this
and a silver of these things... together with some punchinella in red, blue, white and... i guess it is gunmetal.

Guess what I am going to do with a knife. Guess who is going to drive the car in the American way this whole half evening? Guess what I am going to listen in to during the rest of the whole half evening? It's friday for some reason today. ;) These items will definitiely help me to glam up the place... Thanks for these nice and usable and fun and great items. Thanks a lot. I will post the PIF to come any day now.

Weekly challenge #9 - Stamp all over

I am confused. I forgot that it was thursday today and time for a new weekly challenge. But... it's still thursday... so if I think fast... I will manage on time. ;)

I have been thinking about how I scrap. I do that often. What comes back to me are those two layouts I made that day during last summer when I decided to go my own way. To break every rule and just do my thing. One of these two layouts contains a lot of printed out pictures and texts which I happened to have on my hard drive or made for just that page. The other layout contains a lot of stamped things. I often forget to use both options.

Recently I did however dust off some stamps and stamped an layout with 8 different stamps. I realised that stamping is quite a fast way to build up a page which, at least on some scale, are personal. It depends on which stamps you use and how you combine them. I used black ink on my page, but you can vary by using any color. You can combine stamps to add your touch to a page. Color them in, use them as they are and/or emboss. Stamp the whole title or combine with handwriting, text from patterned papers, diecut letters/words or letter/word stickers. The possibilities are once again endless.

My challenge to you is to use stamps. Lots of them on a page. It could be any kind of stamps as long as there are at least 8 different stamps. It's ok to use the same stamp more than once, but it still counts as one stamp. Separate letters don't count at all. Word stamps are ok to count. You can of course stamp a really long title built up of word stamps, but I am trying to get you to find those nice stamps that goes with a page. Use the image stamps, the swirls and so on.

My life - a constant puzzle

The challenge for We Dare You week 31 was to scrap about what is difficult. We have all experienced something difficult in life. The thing here is to scrap about those tough moments. Those learning experiences.

Some have a larger share than others of difficulties. And... what is difficult is very subjective. I didn't know which thread to start to pull. There are so many of them... and I think all of them have been unwinded at least once. I thought I should scrap a page with a general approach. When I then started, I realised that I could scrap about what is now. It's not an easy life to be a single mother with a little son which has inherited his strong will from his mother. I'm supposed to be that super woman - all the time. To be there for anyone or anything who calls for my complete attention. And my life... well it's a constant puzzle of putting things together in a way which makes the pieces fit.

I forgot to take a picture of my kit this time around. But... I used the Bam Pop frame, the blue punchinella (the net I'm in), the HS photo corner with a crown (that crown I as a super woman should wear sometimes), letter stickers and one square brad (it's hip to be painted into a square) from my kit. I added some other things which represents those tough things in my life together with some of the good things too... and I am so happy that I came over the nice items which Marieke has designed. That is the strawberries (they are good :) ), the scalloped circle (scallops for the bumpy road I walk) and the arrows (pointing down... or are they just a highlight for that things are constant?). With those things in my hands, I was able to finish this page. The journaling is on the pink card which I cut to fit in the Bam Pop frame when it is hidden under the photo.

Information about techniques

I added a link to a list of all the techniques published so far. You can find it under Ongoing challenges on the right side of the page.

And... in this link, I added another link to yet another posting I made. That posting contains techniques published by someone else. There are plenty of them out there and I cannot remember all of them in my poor brain. My notes... well those nice notes I have. I never look at them. Therefore,,I started to gather them in one posting here instead. In that way, they will perhaps be easy to find... and use.

Do you know any nice link to a technique? Some technique that is more or less great... usable... surprising... or just simply awesome? Leave a comment here. I gather them together for future learning purpose. :)
